MY STORY
Asanté Tait offers fashion-forward pieces, inspired by everyday beauty, Japanese animation and urban youth culture. His diverse line is represented by collections that were developed from his explorations with textiles, graphic design, and "ideas to realities" throughout his career as a Fashion Designer. Asante's goal is to create exclusive designs and a majority of 1 of 1 pieces that are unique to each client which they can adapt to freely express their own unique and wonderful style.

Asanté showcases an array of his graphic design works in which he utilizes his mastery of Adobe Creative Suite's renowned programs, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign.

Screen Printing Perfected
In this unique collection Asanté shows off his skills with the use of screen prints that are dedicated to a popular Japanese Anime, Naruto. He first drew Sasuke's Rinnegan (eye) and then transferred it onto a thick plastic sheet that he could attach to the front of a screen. Sasuke and Naruto had a love-hate relationship in which Sasuke was cursed and could be viewed as the devil's advocate. Asanté plays with this idea of good (Naruto) and evil (Sasuke) by using screen printed crosses. Some are up-right and some upside-down. The screen printed rose, another key design element, is used to portray the blossoming love that the antagonist and protagonist share even though they are constantly at war with each other.

WOMEN'S CROP TOP JEAN JACKET
Here Asanté provides custom pieces for customers who love to be inventive. If you’re interested in a denim jacket, but wish it was more distressed, shorter in length, or even bleached for more flare, bring it in. Take a leap and let him start designing your own custom piece. Here you can see where he started with an already distressed oversized jacket and made alterations to it from there. Yes, each gallery contains the same jackets with before and after pictures! You can see how distressing and discharging along with a little patchwork can totally alter your look.

MEN'S RUGGED GREY JEAN JACKET
Here the denim jacket was very rugged and stiff made by Levi's for heavy duty work. After Asanté implemented distressing and discharging techniques the jacket became much more soft and wearable for casual occasions.

MASK MAKING EXPLORATIONS
Idea Inspiration: Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty
Asanté works with pattern making for creating three distinct masks, one of his most difficult explorations yet. The head has so many curves and is difficult to measure in every aspect but he wanted to break the mold of being considered a one-track designer. Upon research of Alexander McQueen and his Savage Beauty Exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Asanté discovered that McQueen was much more than a high-fashion designer, he was also considered a great costumer. A lot of his costumes and garments included masks or head-gear which evolved the whole piece into something more than just fashion but into contemporary art itself. One mask Tait made was of layered lace and the other two were made of real suede leather. with each piece you can see how his craftsmanship and understanding of the dimensions of the head increased.

As a fashion designer, stylist, and artist Tait has realized the importance in being able to shoot your own work and products with a DSLR. In these 3 projects I utilize photographic techniques such as "painting with light", use of high and low ISO, high and low shutter speeds, and more to either capture people in their element in a documentary style or to capture a product/scene in an advertising format.
